Kephart Final Project
Final Statement
For my proposal, I wanted to photograph creative portraits. I want to photograph this subject because I have always found it one of the most beautiful and interesting types of photography. Through portraits, you can feel a sense of who the person in the image is and that makes this project important for me. At first, I did not have much of an idea of where I wanted to go with this, and had many images that did not correlate with one another. Through feedback from class, I learned that correlating your photos so they show a certain theme is important. I also learned that images can be great by themselves, but that can change when put in a group with other photos.
Eventually, I had the idea to make portraits through mirrors because I liked the idea of the viewer getting a sense of how that person sees themselves. After the second photo review, I decided to make all my images through reflection instead of just half of them after getting the feedback to do so. Therefore throughout my work, I have tried to capture the reflection of people in different sized mirrors and objects. Capturing each individual in my photo through their reflection allowed my photos to come together more easily. Making each photo monochrome with similar contrasts and tones, allowed for this as well. It took a great amount of time to finally decide where exactly I was going with my final project, but I am very happy with where it ended up.
