Final project - Sican Wu
I photographed people and their rooms. I want
to show a distinctive personality by showing their room decorations. At the beginning,
I was trying to go to at least ten different persons’ rooms and photograph from
a wide-angle and showed all the room through one photo. But through the former presentation,
I realize the subject looked super small and there was no main focus and the subject
looked super small, I asked for too much but failed to convey my idea. So, I specifically
chose two friends who I am really close to. I went to their room and photographed
several for each. I would spend some time talking to them by asking about their
hobbies and they would show me what they usually do in their room. Also, I
learned from the former experience that I could ask my model to do what I want
instead of capturing all real actions because this is photography but not photojournalism
work. So, in the next trial, I chose several parts of a room - by the wall, in
the bed, on the floor, and on the floor - then I would ask my models to follow
my ideas, like looking directly at the camera. I myself would try different angles
and focal lengths. But I would always make sure my subject was the main focus
of my pictures.
