Final Project - Emily Hannak
My final photo project for this class is the details of day-to-day life, specifically my life. I wanted to showcase the smaller details
of someone’s experience that may be overlooked or ignored. This included
objects, people, environments, and anything in between. The collection is
compiled of pieces I felt have the most significant impact on me daily, and
they together create a web that represents me and my experience. The way I
brought them together to really give them a sense of similarity was a monochrome
finish so that there were no conflicting or clashing colors through my diverse
subject matter. Through the process, I was concerned that there would be no
cohesion between my images, or the professionalism would seem absent as the
images were never posed or staged or photographed at an ungodly short depth of
field. I quickly grew past that because quite simply, life is not a
professional studio with one particular purpose: life is hectic, disorganized,
random, unposed, and not a glamorous ideal fantasy. Life is real and ever-changing. I continued this theme as a chose not to cut the prints at equal
dimensions, leaving different sized borders on most. As I had previously feared, a big objection in this project was
dealing with people in my life not wanting to be photographed. I had planned
for photographing parts of my family over the holiday, but they were all quite
vocal against being a part of my project. Overall I know there is room for improvement,
but I am proud of the fact that I feel as if a have succeeded in creating an
accurate and readable view of my daily experience on this bitch of an Earth.
