For my final project, I photographed portraits about people around me. As time goes on, some of my friends are graduated from this school, some of them are transferring to another school, so the time we stay together will be less and less, for this final project, choosing this subject, it would be very meaningful to me, and these photos will remind me of them in the future. At the beginning, I am confused about how the way that portrait can be taken, because most of the time, I like them laughing; having emotion in my camera;but as soon as I realized that’s the portraits only for me, but not for others. I started to think, why people are looking at my photos and how can I present better portraits to others. I tried to find background that matched their wearing, and asked my friends present their normal face in front of my camera. Sometimes their face are embraced so it took lots of time and I took a lot of photos to let them get used to be photographed. Also, I learned photoshop to mak...

My creative portrait project was inspired by movie and comics scene or poster where the part of the character’s face is being cut off and the viewer can only see half of the face. Eyes are one of the most powerful and complex organs of human body as eye contact is essential to communication in this society. Most emotions and facial expression involve eyes and can be reflected by the eyes. Oftentimes we can have a glance of a person’s mental and emotional state by a look at their eyes. With clues and references from the look, hair or background, although only half of the face is being presented, the viewer can have a blurry sense and guess of where those people are, what their personality is, and what the story may be. I would like to think this project is less of a description but more of an inspiration for the viewer’s imagination. Quote: “There are a thousand Hamlet in a thousand people's eyes.” Different viewer with different social and demographic background might have...

I photographed the motion of indoor objects. I want to show the unique and abstract motion lines or patterns that are created from the use of a slow shutter speed and a moving object. At the beginning, I was not sure of the exact technique I was going to use to photograph the motion of these objects. I also was focusing on the motion of the object and how it interreacted with the plain backgrounds. But through class critiques I learned that I needed to focus in on the motion the object, the background left room for distraction and it did not help in the way I thought it would originally. Through trial and error, I learned that the best way to photograph the motion of indoor object is to use a tripod and have the objects move through the view of the camera. I originally wanted to focus on zoom photography but that was not a strong technique for the type of photographs I wanted. The zoom aspect gave the photographs a different look and took ...
