Martin Parr
Martin Parr is an English photographer who specializes in projects that show modern life through his perspective. His grandfather was also a photographer which was what first sparked Parr’s passion. He then went on to attend Manchester Polytechnic to study photography in the early 1970s. Today, in his sixty-seven years of life, Parr has published over forty photography books, has been a part of hundreds of exhibitions, and has received many photography-related awards. Beginning in 1990, he became interested in working with television and films and spent many years creating documentaries. He then became a member of  Magnum Photographic Corporation in 1994.  His photography has been described as social documentary, but in a new light. He shows everyday things in a humorous and candid way.  Martin Parr specifically describes his photography as, ““With photography, I like to create fiction out of reality. I try and do this by taking society's natural prejudice and giving this a twist.” Martin first began photographing in black and white film, but when color film came out, that became his signature. He first began using a Fuji 400 Superior, a Fuji 100, and an Agfa Ultra. In 2006, Parr discovered his love for digital cameras and today uses a Canon EOS 5DS R. Another thing that is interesting about Parr is that he never shoots in manual mode, and instead shoots in Programme mode with macro lenses. He uses a ring flash, a speedlight, or a Gary Fong diffuser, to get the iconic vibrancy in his photos.

Linda Foard Roberts
Linda Foard Roberts is a photographer based out of North Carolina. Her love for photography began when she was just fifteen years old after taking a class in high school. Her work is extremely personal and show many images of those close to her. Her largest project, Passage, was a recollection of her photographs over the span of ten years. Roberts makes her images poetic, and makes the viewer feel something through the image. Through her work, she shows the effects time has on the things that she photographed and the cycle of life and death. Her work can be described as timeless, delicate, and even romantic. She photographs images of people she is close to as well as old relics and her surroundings, most specifically trees that look whimsical. She captures these types of images uses a 8" x 10" and  a 5" x 7" cameras with old lenses to create her style, and make silver gelatin images. Roberts also enjoys creating circular images as well. Her photographs are very contrasting monochrome images that have a shallow depth of field. Linda Roberts published her first monograph in 2016, has had exhibits throughout the world, and has won many awards for her photography.

Maia Flore

Maia Flore is a thirty-one year old french photographer and artist who currently lives in Paris. She graduated from Ecole des Gobelins, École de L’image in 2010 and then joined the team at Agence VU', a photography company, in 2011. Maia Flore began photographing to feel a connection to her great-grandmother, who was also a photographer. Flore’s work is extremely distinct being that she photographs mostly self-portraits. She creates her portraits without ever fully showing her face, and she does this in hopes that the viewer imagines themselves as the person in the photograph.  In many pieces of her work, the subject is seen floating away or lying against an object. She does this by setting her camera on a tripod, moving herself a good distance from the camera, and using a remote to capture images as she moves in different positions. She describes this as a performance in front of her lens and tries to make herself look like she is against gravity against a beautiful landscape. The subject often wears something bright while the rest of the scene looks hazy. Flore’s photography can be described as whimsy, enchanting, and almost imaginary. Her photographs have a realistic feel to unrealistic scenes with a poetic, fairytale feeling to them. She has perfected the art of retouching and photoshopping her images which allows her to create her mystical style. To create this images, it takes Flores months to sketch and collage her ideas until she likes them enough to make a photograph. She has many exhibits since she began showing her work in 2012, and has also won many awards.
