Final Project Proposal Altmanshofer

For my final project I want to explore into macrophotography and taking detailed images of everyday objects. I want to photograph the intricate textures of objects like tree bark, leaves, fingerprints, etc. I am interested in this because I want to practice more with my new lens instead of just using my regular 140mm lens. And it’s always interesting when you see other people’s pictures of regular objects under high magnification. Objects that you had originally thought to be smooth, are actually very course and uneven. In order to build up this work for critique I intend to gather objects and/or create a list of easily accesible objects to photograph. 
I want these images to have great detail, and be able to make the viewer guess at what they are looking at. In this way, viewer’s will be interested in looking at the images, because they want to know what the object is, and will spend some time looking at the image, guessing at the subject. The challenges I anticipate running into are not finding a variety of subjects to photograph, or finding too many to narrow down into one body of work. Theming will also be a key part of the project since the work might be narrowed down to textures of different trees, table surfaces, or the texture of skin. Other problems I will probably run into are having a nuetral background for smaller subjects, and having good lighting. I don’t have access to a photography studio, and there are no well-lit areas of my house where I could make my own studio.

Devon Barthold 10 Style Photos

Dennis Hopper Born May 17th 1936, he started taking art classes when he was 13. He started out as an actor but he developed a bad reputation for being a difficult actor, he turned to photography in the 1960’s.  He used a Nikon 33 mm camera that his wife gave him for his birthday. He took a lot of monochrome photographs and when he photographed in color he focused in on the way the colors worked together. He has captured many politically driven photographs but he has also captured many portraits of friends and the people around him in life. He liked to colors as an abstract design and would often photograph graffiti from the gangs in Los Angeles. 1/ what do you intend to photograph? I want to capture the real identity of different people. I want to photograph people when they are doing something in their bedrooms. I will start by asking questions: what you usually do in your bedroom. I want to find out the unknown sides of them. So I will mainly focus on my close friends who I have known for a while and find out either dark, crazy, weird sides by asking questions. will use a wide-angle lens trying to show their personality through the room decorations.
