Bressler Proposal
For my final project, I intend to photograph architecture,
both old and new. This could include whole buildings, doors, windows, artistic structures,
and more. Specifically, I want to photograph them in a unique perspective that
most people would not see them from. I want to photograph this subject, because
it is different than what I usually photograph. My favorite subject to
photograph is people, but I want to expand my interests and skills to other
subjects.
I will
revisit the subject by physically revisiting the architecture that I previously
photographed. This way, I can use what I receive in my critiques to retake the
pictures in a more effective way. If the subjects I choose are not sufficient
for my project, I will find new architecture elsewhere. I plan to photograph
some of the interesting architecture downtown. I also have my car on campus, so
I am able to drive different places to take photos of different subjects.
The
viewer will care to spend time with my photographs, because I plan to take them
in an intriguing way that people would not normally see. Therefore, they will
not simply be plain pictures of buildings, but they will show them from a new
perspective. I will also include new and old architecture, so there will be a
wide variety of types of architecture to look at and compare.
One of
the challenges that I plan to anticipate is time management. With the fall
season, there is very limiting hours of sunlight. My classes fall during these
hours, so I believe I will have trouble finding times that allow for the proper
lighting. I will most likely take my photos on the weekends. Another issue I
anticipate is people. Some of the most intriguing architecture is often
surrounded by the most people. Some small element of people in my photos could
be useful, but I do not plan to have them be overwhelming present in my photographs.
