Devon Barthold Final Project Proposal

For my final project, I would like to do motion photography of objects. We have already learned about panning for motion photography but I would also like to explore zoom photography and the use of just a camera on the tripod with a long exposure. My subject will be the abstraction that comes from the motion of the objects within the photographs. The use of objects in motion photography is not something you see every day and I think this could be very interesting. I really enjoyed motion photography for our other assignments. I would like to explore other methods of capturing motion. I think that I can really develop a distinct style in these photographs and I think revisiting it can be very fun and interesting. 

The viewer would care to spend time with my photographs because they will be interesting and new. I plan on trying out a lot of different things and possibly layering photographs depending on the amount of motion in each photograph. I really think this could develop a very interesting and unique style that will capture the viewers eyes. The use of abstraction will create a new and interesting style that I think could be really strong. 

I think some challenges I might run into is being able to have the subject at least a little bit clear in each photograph. I think this will be challenging to do but I am fully prepared to work hard and do my best to make the best photographs that I can. Another hardship might be lighting but I plan on going out to photograph at multiple times of day to figure out when is the best time to photograph these types of images. I think these challenges can be overcome easily if I put effort into them and try my best. Another problem I could run into is having good lighting to capture these objects in motion.

Devon Barthold 10 Style Photos

Dennis Hopper Born May 17th 1936, he started taking art classes when he was 13. He started out as an actor but he developed a bad reputation for being a difficult actor, he turned to photography in the 1960’s.  He used a Nikon 33 mm camera that his wife gave him for his birthday. He took a lot of monochrome photographs and when he photographed in color he focused in on the way the colors worked together. He has captured many politically driven photographs but he has also captured many portraits of friends and the people around him in life. He liked to colors as an abstract design and would often photograph graffiti from the gangs in Los Angeles. Sican proposal + style

1/ what do you intend to photograph? I want to capture the real identity of different people. I want to photograph people when they are doing something in their bedrooms. I will start by asking questions: what you usually do in your bedroom. I want to find out the unknown sides of them. So I will mainly focus on my close friends who I have known for a while and find out either dark, crazy, weird sides by asking questions. will use a wide-angle lens trying to show their personality through the room decorations. My subjects might not look at the camera. And I hope they are comfortable with what they are doing like there is without a camera and outside observer. 2- why do you want to photograph the subject?
